77/22 All Weather Mag to LR? - RimfireCentral.com Forums

77/22 All Weather Mag to LR? - RimfireCentral.com Forums: "i've recently begun working on my 4 caliber 'critter gitter'....lol... a 96/22mag action, w/ a selection of bbls for the cals/ammo.... i'm up to 5 bbls now!... (gotta have a smoothbore for bird shot!)

the issue of the firing pin is one that will be literally 'hit or miss' from the factory.....the good news is you can tweak them and make them work

the magazines are no big prob..... i made a .350' spacer out of some flat micarta to fit behind my lr mags, w/ a dimple on one face, and a tit on the other for the mag latch....i'm hoping someone will produce another batch of the 6 sided nuts on the rear of the mag .350' longer..... i heard a rumor someone has made a batch, but i've been unable to lay hands on any....

i've only made one range trip w/ this gun, i've only shot the .22mag and .17hmr bbls.....i do use a set screw in my vblock, and didn't notice alot of change in point of impact when i changed..... i was only shooting for groups, so i don't have an exact measure of how close it was in repeatability.... it seemed to be about what i remember getting when i remove/remount a single bbl....

now, if we can get one of these engineers around here to come up with a nice front sight base to cover a bbl tenon/vnotch, and we can reduce our bbl count by half!!!..... those double chambered bbls in the 'box o bbls' may have found their home!!! .17hmr-.17m2, .22lr-.22mag...

keep us posted on how this works for ya....i'm very interested in these conversions
