I just bought a scope rail for my Walther P-22 pistol. Looking at it when I opened the package I thought it would fit on my 5-7. IT DOES ***as long as you remove the front sight***.

To remove the front sight place the pistol on your workbench CUSHIONED BY A TOWEL FOLDED INTO QUARTERS. Ensure that the pistol in on its right side, so that the left side is up. Using a BRASS DRIFT PIN drive out the pin on the slide near the front of the rear site. USE ONLY BRASS AS STEEL WILL MAR METAL AND BRASS IS SOFT ENOUGH IT WILL NOT. Unscrew the rear site and remove screw and spring. Lift the slide cover up from the rear and slide towards the front sight. Remove the loaded chamber indicator and spring.

Remove the slide from the gun. In a vise WITH CUSHIONED JAWS (wood, rubber, etc) clamp the slide on either side and using a BRASS PUNCH remove the front site assembly. Reinstall the slide cover the reverse of removal.

When your 5-7 is reassembled put the scope rail together with ALL pieces including the spacer at the rear. The spacer is polymer as is the slide cover and I believe that with the addition of molybendmen dry lubricants (or graphite) there will be no damage to the cover and perhaps only a little wear.

I did this this afternoon and put my holosite on my 5-7. It works fine.

Even if the slide cover is worn, replacements are available from FN's repair department at a reasonable cost.
