FN Forum.NET :: View topic - 100-rnd Mag? - PS90 FS200 FN SCAR FNP FiveseveN 5.7x28mm: "What's about to develope is a new marketing strategy if the current one doesn't get the move on soon. I've already initiated production on some components but several deadlines have not been made on the distribution end related to publication and final details of marketing.
Considering the total of $$$ put into the injection molds and the spring production along with the other start up cost like raw polymer resins and 22 cases of SS197sr used to function test, which is only about 2/3 of the ammo used, add on the interest/finance charges of the funds I utilized from the credit line with the cost of all the packing materials and supplies, equals in thousands more than twice the number of words in this sentence.
I'm trying to let things work itself out, but as soon as all the parts are ready for assembly, I will start direct sales to recoup the initial investment, start looking for someone to buy the whole deal and move on to the next project I have waiting.
As far as the tactical mag releases, we're going to go ahead and release those for sale, watch for the post."

Well, on the Federal level, none of the 5.7X28 ammo is considered "AP", even though test have shows that it will penetrate body armor. On the State levels, it changes. In Florida, none of the .22 is considered "AP" unless it meets three requirements of which it must have a steel inner core or core of equivelent hardness AND a truncated cone (the top cut off perpendicular to the bullet) AND which is designed to be used in a handgun as an armour piercing or metal piercing bullet. There are variations by county (Broward) being the child.
The SS190 uses a 32 grain bullet, SS195 and SS198 use a 28 grain HP bullet. Published velocities vary from pistol to rifle. The longer the barrel, the faster the projectile.
The SS190 is 2100 and 2550 fps out a of FsN and PS90 respectively.
The SS195 is 2050 and 2500 fps out of a FsN and PS90 respectively.
The SS198 is 2200+ and 2500+ fps out of a FsN and PS90 respectively.
The SS198 is suppose to have the same projectile capabilities as the SS190 while using the HP of the SS195 bullet. The variations in the velocities of the bullets between the SS190 and SS198 are due to the weights of the bullets respectively. Hence the statement that the SS198 is just a souped up version of the SS195, more powder or a slightly faster burning powder to get the increased velocities. It also uses the HP which makes it more palatible to LEA over the SS190 and is sold directly to LEO and MIL personnel, instead of agency purchases.
I do not have an SS198 to break down and examine as they are restricted to LE and MIL only by FN, even though they are being sold on gunbroker for hundreds of dollars a box.
I will still buy the other 'stuff' because it has a higher velocity than the SS198 and won't cost me $200 a box and it has better balistic characteristics and capabilities.

MOERSE LEKKER SALES, LLC - FN PS-90 Barrel Shroud
MOERSE LEKKER SALES, LLC - FN PS-90 Barrel Shroud
Finally, after countless emails requesting this item, we have started production and now offer them for sale to PS90 owners. There is only one other shroud out there available for the PS90, and I don't even think it is fair to compare it with this one!
Not only does it look really good, the shroud will also protect your hand(s) from the hot barrel when handling the carbine after shooting.
Weighing in at a mere 4.5ounces, you will barely notice the difference in weight on your PS90.
It literally installs in seconds with an Allen wrench which is supplied. The shroud uses a brass set screw to push against the bottom of your rifle's barrel to securely hold the shroud to the barrel. I have found that brass a brass set-screw is better than a nylon, teflon or steel one. The shroud has no external hooking points, thus it will not hinder your tactical movements. Obviously, the rifle in the pictures is not included. Please e-mail me if you have any specific questions about this shroud.

SHOOT 17M2 & 17A OUT OF YOUR RUGER 77/17or22WMR - Jesses Hunting & Outdoors (JHO): "TECHNICAL NOTES)
Clerke machines a .007' thick shoulder on the breech face of the barrel to make up for proper headspacing of a 22 LR case fire with a 22 mag bolt.
I also modified the cartridge support to improve the extraction because the cartridge support was originally tuned for 17 HMR (22 mag case). Once this mod is done, extraction and feeding is better for all rimfire calibers.
You can also use stock 10/22 magazines in the 77/17 or 77/22 magums by installing an extended magazine latch plunger instead of installing a spacer on your mags."

Four-in-one rifles: a great way to explore the new world of rimfires | Guns Magazine | Find Articles at BNET.com: "Here's an exciting new development that will warm the hearts of many a rimfire rifleman. Have you ever considered that the .22 LR, .22 Win Mag, .17 HRM, and the .17 Mach 2 might all be digested by one action fitted with four interchangeable barrels? It's here--the 4-in-1 switch-barrel rimfire rifle is busting out all over the 2005 scene."

That's great news.
Simple test: pull a few unfired SS192/195 bullets and reload w/ 6.5 grains of True Blue and the original projectiles. Chrono alongside unmodified SS192/195. (Or, am I missing something? I are not an expert.)
Posted by Medula Oblongata
Bullet: Hornady 35grn VMax
Brass: 2x fired FN 03
trim length: 1.128 - 1.132
Charge weight: 6.5grns True Blue
OAL length: 1.4650
Primer: Winchester small rifle - Remington 6 1/2SR - Rem 7 1/2 SR BR
Higher pressure than factory, with some raised donut cratering of the primer. Brass ejects easily with no damage or hard extraction marks. Recoil is slightly heavier than factory, muzzle rapport is significantly louder with a 2' flame from the barrel. Not fun to shoot indoors.
Bullet: 40grn - Hornady VMax, SIerra BlitzKing and FBHP, Nosler Ball tip
Brass: 2 - 3x fired FN 03
Trim length : 1.128 - 1.132
Charge weight: 6.3grns True Blue
OAL length: 1.5855
Primer: same as above
Brass is similiar to what is described above, pressure slightly less. Didn't own a chrono when I worked these up, so I don't know what the velocity is. I was never concerned with velicity, but accuracy and reliability (and safety).
Incidentally, the factory SS192/195 have 6.5grns of powder charged into the case. I felt these to be conservative charges and could be safely increased a fair amount. I also have been quite vocal in the past insisting that the factory powder appeared to be (visually and by weight testing) True Blue, and with this conformation I feel vindicated

Reloading the 5.7x28 - Page 10 - ArmsLocker Forums: "Hello, I have been keeping up with the posts and would like to provide and receive feedback regarding the 5.7 reloading. In reply to 7of7, I don't think that FN would have used Winchester powder- I will touch more on this subject later. First off, I would like to say SORRY to Red October – I admire your resilience, To RL56- I think you’re the man and on target with your info, I hope you continue and provide feedback. I feel that I may have narrowed down the powder that was/is used by FN."

Wife finally got her FN USG to go with my PS90.... - FN FiveseveN Forum: "P.S. for those looking for good reactive targets, take your empty water and soda bottles, put a drop or two of liquid soap detergent in them, and fill them with water. When you hit them, there is a good chance they will either explode, with a nice vapor myst, or the first round will go through the bottle which with suds up the soap and your follow up round will give you a very nice foamy explosion. With SS197 rounds, we've found that some will go straight through the bottles and water without expanding while others will fragment immediatly upon impact. Recovery of some of the bullet tips out of one of the berms we shoot into showed a combination of fragments and some intact rounds which would put a mushroom farmer to shame."
